has recently returned from a 10night tour of
China
with a tour
operatorwhogivesyouspecialaccesstopeopleandplacesalongtheway,keeping
you away from the crowds. The tour started in the city of
Shanghai
, with its
contrastingskylinesofbotholdandnew. Thetourcontinuedonto
Yichang
,where
itwasallon-board fora4night rivercruise,withshoreexcursionsat localvillages,
includingmarketsandhomevisits, the lovelyShennongStreamand thecolossal
ThreeGorgesDamProject
, ending inChongqing.
After disembarking, the journey continued to
Xian
visiting theexcavation site
of theTerracottaWarriors, the life-size army createdduring theQinDynasty to
protectQin Shi Huang. Thequiet and comfortablebullet train took thegroup
onto
Beijing
for the next stage of the journey, which included the sprawling
GreatWall & the regal ForbiddenCity.
Finally, itwasonto
HongKong
, stayingat the iconicPeninsulaHotel in theheart
of Kowloon. A short trip on a traditional sampan through the local floating
villageand thenup to thePeak to take in the stunningviewsover theharbour,
descendingon the PeakTram, oneof the city’s oldest andbest-loved forms of
transport, givingeveryoneabrief tasteof suchavibrant city.
This timeourQualityExperienceshavebeen rather curtailed! Wehavebeensobusyhere in theoffice that ithasbeen
almost impossible togetaway.TheCaribbeancontinues tobeverypopularwithspecialofferspoppingup thatareap-
plicable inour summermonthswithEuropeanbookings coming in thickand fast for SpringandSummer. Aswell as
manycomplicated itineraries tovariousdestinations around theworld–wehavecertainlybeenkept verybusy since
Christmas.
